If you are a parent, a young cellist, an advanced student cellist, an adult beginner, or an avid adult amateur, you have come to the right place! I am a passionate and excited teacher. I believe parents should be involved and clued-in when a cellist is very young!
Excellent technique is essential for every player. But whether you want to learn the classical repertoire in a traditional setting, or you long to play Irish folk tunes, jigs, and reels, or you want to play rock cello as though it were a screaming Fender electric guitar... Look no farther. I've done it all. I've learned from the best. Let me pass on the great tradition to you! Lesson locations : 1. The Philadelphia cello studio is now located in Wyncote/Glenside, on Waverly Rd, between Easton Rd and Rices Mill Rd. (Google this zip code: 19095.) A small circlular driveway is available for student parking. 2. For single lessons an alternative location may be used - either your home or an acceptable space elsewhere. Students admitted to the studio (full-time or part-time recurring) will attend lessons at the studio in Wyncote (see above). Lesson schedules : Duration: Lessons are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes, depending on the needs and level of the student. All students over 14 years, including adults, take full 60 minute lessons. This is the best unit of time for the learning process, attention span, and for the cellist's body! Frequency: Lessons are scheduled for once per week, recurring on the same day and time each week. Each student will be assigned his/her day and time as permitted by the studio schedule. Adult cellists may graduate to one lesson every two weeks after the first month of weekly lessons. Lessons scheduled less than twice monthly (or without a recurring appointment) fall under the single lesson fee schedule (see below). Lesson fees (2009) : A single cello lesson will fall under the following fee schedule : 60 minute single lesson at the studio : $75
Students who have been admitted to the studio are assigned a recurring weekly lesson time. Studio fees, paid monthly, fall under the following fee schedule : 60 minute - weekly : $200 Cello studio events : Several gatherings throughout the year with your fellow cello students for class lessons, no-stress performances, and discussion sessions.
