Daniel Delaney, violoncello
Dan Delaney is a leading cellist and teacher in Philadelphia and New York City. He is editor and contributing author for the Everything Cello Newsletter and creator of The Art of the Inner Hand series. A native of Spokane, WA, Mr. Delaney holds a
Bachelor of Music degree in Cello from the University of Northern Colorado and a
Master of Music degree in Cello from the Mannes College of Music in New York.
He has performed extensively as both soloist and chamber musician
throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States. In recent years Mr. Delaney has performed frequently
with the Ferris Piano Trio, the Knox and LeVoy String Quartets, the Douglas String Quartet and Sextet,
and the Celtic Consort. He has appeared as an orchestral and chamber music clinician at Clearwater Arts Camp (Newport, WA), the Frontier Academy (Greeley, CO), and as an instructor of chamber music at the Strings International
Music Festival (Bryn Mawr, PA). His primary private instructors
have included such notable cellists as Wayne C. Smith, James Fittz, and Paul Tobias.
Dan has also been privileged to work in masterclass settings with Kimberly Fisher, Owen Carman, Ron Leonard, Darrett Adkins,
Timothy Eddy, Janos Starker, the Alexander String Quartet, and the Takacs String Quartet.
Mr. Delaney is actively engaged as a freelance cellist
and guest artist in Philadelphia, New York City, and the surrounding areas. His recent ensemble credits include the Manhattan-based
Ensemble 212, Manhattan Chamber Symphonee,
and the new hit cabaret, Hot Mess in Manhattan.
He was also a featured guest on the recent debut album for New York-based rock group Little Grey Girlfriend.
